Portal Tools
Contained within the Admin Tools section are a large number of tools, separated into discrete functions, that will allow the officers (or other members with appropriate access), to maintain the various aspects of the Portal data structure.
These functions include but are not limited to: the ability to oversee the overall rank structure, ships available to be added to member hangers, the main areas of Unit focus and access permissions.
Further tools will be added as more modules go online.
Additionally, further tools are available where contextually appropriate. Such as adding new Certification to members is contained within the ‘Academy’ section. Or editing a Squad’s details or status is contained within the Units section.
The permissions system allows us to prevent access to functions that a particular type of member does not need access to. For example an Academy Officer would need access to add and edit the Certification definitions and tools to add them to members, but would not need access to hangar management.

Cards

A ‘card’ is a word used to describe a page on the Portal that contains an overview of data regarding a specific element such as a member or a Unit.
Another way is to consider them to be a ‘profile’ page.
Member Card
The Member Card also doubles as the Members primary Profile on Portal, containing general information such as name, rank/special division and some gaming profile links (Steam / Twitch).
It also contains more specific information such as the Members:

  • Divisional Interests represented both as an overall percentage for each divisional category and on a per interest level
  • Feedback as two numbers representing their total positive and negative feedback collected from the missions they have been part of
  • certifications collected from the Courses that the member has completed
  • A Hangar containing all the ships that Member has added to their Profile.\
  • The Unit that Member is a part of, and their Rank
  • Various Misc information for Admin use

Unit Card
The Unit Card or Unit Profile is the main landing page for any Unit created on Portal and contains various pieces of information for use by both Members and Admins.
It contains information such as:

  • Unit name
  • Scheduled Play Time
  • Mission Preference
  • Lore [Optional]
  • Unit Designation [Optional]
  • Motto/Slogan [Optional]
  • Unit Administrator's Name

Additional sub pages provide more detailed information such as:

  • Unit Hangar listing all the ships at their disposal (and from whom they derive from)
  • Full list of all Members their administrative roles
  • Incoming Applications or Invites (Private to unit administrator only)
